E-MiDAS Course Information
The MiDAS courses fall into 2 categories: Standard or Accessible (Wheelchair carrying minibuses).
The Standard MiDAS e-Learning Course
The Standard course is normally used by Schools, Scout Groups, Charitable and & Voluntary Organisations that use Standard Minibuses and Private taxi Operators.
The eLearning course includes the following:
> Module 1 – Introduction to MIDAS
To understand what the course entails and how to navigate it.
> Module 2 – The Minibus
To understand how to define a minibus and to recognise when a permit is required.
> Module 3 – Driver Licensing
To understand what types of minibus and journeys your licence entitles you to drive and what your licensing responsibilities are.
> Module 4 – Minibus Driving Tips
To understand how to adapt car driving skills to a larger vehicle to promote safe, legal and comfortable journeys.
> Module 5 – Reversing & Manoeuvring
To gain an understanding of the important rules and safety-guidelines to follow when reversing or manoeuvring.
> Module 6 – The Journey
To understand the steps you need to take before, during and after driving a minibus.
> Module 7 – Legal Responsibilities
To understand the legal responsibilities in relation to driving a minibus.
> Module 8 – Breakdown, Collision & Evacuation Procedures
To be confident in handling emergency situations relating to breakdowns, collisions and evacuation procedures.
> Module 9 – Theory Assessment
To check the learner’s understanding of the theory content.
> Module 10 – Next Steps
To understand what happens before, during and after your Driving Assessment.
The e-Learning course will take approximately between 70 & 90 minutes to complete and can be completed in stages or all at once. The candidates should have at least 1 week to complete the e-Learning course and this needs to be completed at least 1 day prior to the arrival of our Trainer/Assessor for the extended driving assessments.
On the day of the driving assessments there will be a short session to review the candidate e-Learning questions or concerns prior to driving.
The on-road part of the course is normally completed on the 1 to 1 basis with a demonstration drive by the trainer (if required), a practice session and then an assessment of the candidate`s driving abilities.
Each candidate who is successful will receive a MiDAS E-certificate which is valid for 4 years after completing a short CTA feedback survey.
Also, your organisation will receive a feedback email with concerns or achievements and a copy of each candidates’ assessment form for their records if needed.

The Accessible MiDAS Course
The Accessible course is used predominately by Local Authorities, Care Homes, SEN Schools, Community Transport Operators and Taxi Operators that cater for children with wheelchair requirements.
It offers everything in the E-MiDAS Standard course as well as a 2-hour classroom session that include the following information on:
- Safety For Passengers in Wheelchairs
- Using Vehicles Tail-Lifts and Ramps
- Securing Wheelchairs
- Disability Awareness.
The on-road part of the course is normally completed on the 1 to 1 basis with a demonstration drive by the trainer (if required), a practice session and then an assessment of the candidate`s driving abilities.
Each candidate who is successful will receive a MiDAS E-certificate which is valid for 4 years after completing a short CTA feedback survey.
